Can an aimesh node be main switch connected to the isp router (not the aimesh main AP/node)?

New Around Here
I currently have an edgerouter X as my router wtih 1gig fiber. Using an AX58U as the main AP/node and an AC68U as a mesh node. The AX58U is connected to the edgerouter and is the main switch for my entire LAN traffic. I am thinking it would be better to move my AX58U to another location for better wifi coverage in my home, away from the edgerouter.

I have a second AC68U that I can also use as a mesh node /switch with radios disabled, that I am thinking of having it be the switch connected to my edgerouter. I want to make it a mesh node instead of a separate AP so I can manage it all by logging into just one device. Also I want to make the AX58U the main node because it will have 160mhz dfs for 5ghz. The AC68U appropriately are assigned 80mhz dfs in the middle of the main nodes 160mhz spectrum.

Is this approach ok without any drawbacks?

Thanks.

Using the AC68U as a mesh node with your AX class router will disable the dfs channels in the AX and limit it to 80 MHz bandwidth. Use the AC68U as an access point.

The answer to your thread title question - No.

Whatever you want to be AiMesh router in AP Mode has to be connected to your ER-X directly.

I am using the latest official firmwares for both devices. I get 160mhz dfs when I am connected to AX AP, and i get 80mhz dfs when I roam to the AC68U. At least thats what my ubuquiti scanning app is showing. Can confirm I get like 80-100MB/s to my NAS at 160mhz.

In theory that could work (although I've personally never tried an AiMesh setup without one of the nodes also being a router) but you might see constant messages in the AX58U system log complaining about the fact that the AC68U nodes don't support 160MHz bandwidth. For example,
