"Cannot Detect Proxy" Error Message

Forsaken77

New Around Here
Hi all...

I'm having a problem with my RT-AC66U router since upgrading to the latest Merlin firmware. I just read another post where a guy had the same problem, but this problem extends to even mobile devices on the network and what fixed his pc problem won't work for mobile devices, but it didn't fix my pc issues either.

I can't login to my bank account from any laptop or smartphone since upgrading to the latest firmware. On mobile devices it says "No Internet Connection Detected" and there is internet acces, and on the pc, after running the network diagnostic, it says "Proxy Settings Cannot Be Detected."

I don't have a proxy setup at all, I've checked under internet options on the pc to make sure and it's all good. Plus the speed is a lot slower. I think this mostly started after setting up a Guest network for our tenants so they're not on our network.

I was a cable tech for 7 years, so I know I didn't screw anything up. Is there some way in the router settings to fix this? Also, CableVision/Optimum is my ISP. But this issue is most definitely coming from the router because it's affecting every device on the network that work wirelessly.

Any help would be appreciated. Here is the link for the post where the other guy had the same problem

Anybody have any idea what could be the cause of this?
Your ISP may have assigned you an WAN IP that has been blacklisted by your bank. Go to the main WAN page, and hit the Clone MAC button at the bottom and Apply. This should force a new IP to be assigned.

My friend... You are a F'n GENIUS!!! That totally fixed the problem. Now all the pc's connect and even the mobile app works again. I thought it was when I setup the guest network, but around the same time I also upgraded my internet speed to 100/35 Mbps. I guess they assigned a bad ip. But I thought the ip address is issued dynamically every so often? Well whatever the case, it worked.

The weird thing is that it didn't affect the wired lan connections, only wireless.

Thanks again for your help!!!
