amtm Disable update notification in router

Robert57

Occasional Visitor
I have set up Asus Merlin and configured automatic updates for Merlin via add-ons.

My RT-BE88U router displays a notification for a general software update.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the update notification?

Your issue isn't with AMTM, you should remove the AMTM tag/prefix for your thread title. If you installed MerlinAU, then your issue is with that script. As posted in reply previously in the other discussion to your post. See the MerlinAU addon discussion (further down on the first page of this subforum):

You'll see in the first post there are examples of how to enable/disable the MerlinAU firmware check and other options contain within that script addon.

@Robert57 are you running the latest Merlin (3006.102.6)? If not then that's why you get the notification. It's for Merlin firmware, not Asus. Update and it'll stop flashing at you.
If you run MerlinAU then set the postponement to zero days and Merlin will be updated for you overnight.

As others have mentioned, if you experience any issues with MerlinAU, please report them in the dedicated MerlinAU thread so I can properly track and address them.
I specifically monitor that thread for this purpose.

I also want to clarify that, although it may appear (as some have suggested) that this behavior is caused by MerlinAU, that is not the case.
MerlinAU does not set the webs_state_flag value at any point within the script period. This variable, which controls the update notification in the WebGUI, is only read by MerlinAU in 2 places; it is never written or modified by the script.

The update notification (webs_state_flag) is controlled solely by the firmware’s built-in merlin_webs_update script found here:
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-me...router/rom/webs_scripts/merlin_webs_update.sh

In short, if the icon is flashing, it simply means a firmware update is available. MerlinAU will automatically apply the update once the default postpone period has been reached.
I’m assuming this is also why we haven’t seen any further follow-up from @Robert57 as he likely figured it out, or the postpone period was reached.

No one reads the manual. This is/was the most likely issue.

Sometimes reading the manual goes a long way! I have a strong feeling once he figured it out all went smoothly 😁

Otherwise find me at the MerlinAU thread anytime...
