EA-N66 repeater will not finish connection.

First post here, as I have decided that more network savvy people use this forum.
Before I give totally up on this thing I would give it a go here.

Repeater will not connect to RT-N66U router. I have tried many things and had ASUS assist me but nothing works.

I have added the EA-N66's MAC into the router's filter list & updated adapter to the latest firmware (1.0.1.7f /Win 7 x64).

Detailed synopsis:

Hard reset of EA-N66
Updated to lastest router firmware (Tomato / Shibby 110 AIO)
Placed EA-N66 adjacent to RT-N66U router
No established connection
No final setup process page
Soft reset of EA-N66
Disabled MAC filtering on router
No final setup process page - Network Timeout

It will not connect to either band.

Video of complete connection - Don't get past point.

Received message:

Setup wizard is unable to establish your connection, please reset your machine and start over again.
If the same problem still occurs, please contact your ISP or reseller for further informations.
If you have mac filter or access control list (ACL) enabled in your EA-N66, your EA-N66 will block you from accessing the network.
Please add the following MAC address into your EA-N66 Mac filter/ACL list or reset your EA-N66 for a successful connection.

Try moving the EA-N66 about 6 feet away from your parent router. I don't know if this will definitely resolve your problem, but Asus recommends that the EA-N66 be placed no closer than 1.5 meters from the router (see page 15 of the EA-N66 Step-by-Step Setup Manual; this information is not stated in the Quick Start Guide that ships with the product).

Thanks but I've already tried everything that I and ASUS could think of. I've even tried ASUS' beta firmware (1.0.1.8f). Nothing seems to work out. I guess it is just a defective adapter. Luck of the draw. :(

Random question - is this only a problem setting up as a repeater?
i.e. did you also try to connect it as an access point / adapter

If its only an issue with the repeater then it makes me think WDS issues - if it doesnt even work as an AP then probably a dodgy device as you suggested.

It was returned as defective. Didn't try out any other mode than what it was intended for. Least was refunded for it.

Next time try connecting the EA-N66 direct onto your laptop or computer via Ethernet cable and doing the setup from there.

Try connecting the EA-N66 using the the MAC address found in the RT-N66u's client list or DHCP Leases Log.

What I found is if I input the EA-N66's MAC address manually, it would not off by one letter. The MAC address that is physically on the EA-N66 ends with "DE".

If I check the MAC address on the RT-N66u's client list, the EA-N66's MAC address ends with "DF".

Try v1.0.1.8g that came out on August 2nd. I also had the same problem and was ready to give up but this firmware plus the latest Asus firmware that resolved the 5Ghz on the RT-N66U made my life easier. So far, so good!
