Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.10 is now available

@RMerlin there is a compatibility issue with Guest Networking and nodes that are on 3004 instead of 3006. The GT-AX11000 Pro had 3004 firmware but now is moved to the 3006 which cant seem to handle basic guest networking that the old 3004 branch was capable of handling. With a 3004 and a 3004 node I am able to have mesh network guest network on both my bands -- This doesn't work with Guest Network Pro. Is there a way to give users the choice and build both branches - Or are any fixes coming out for that - I know you don't handle that code specifically but even the new betas don't seem to have new code for wifi 6 routers. It looks like new GPL is just for wifi 7 routers.
Have you tried latest Asus baseline firmware?

You mean stock ? -- All I know is the 3004 firmware that ended being created when the base switched to 3006 worked with guest network functionality when nodes are on and only have available 3004 firmware such as the XT8's. This new Guest Network Pro isn't so pro because it cant even handle what the older firmware was capable of doing =(

Yes, I mean "stock" for the node. I never have had issues with mix of 3006 and 3004 firmware for router an AiMesh node(s).

The XT8 Nodes with a GT-AX11000 Pro router don't populate anything but one band - So for example if I set up a guest network that has an SSID - Test & I selected both bands 2.4 & 5ghz - Only 2.4 will show. If I change that and I select only 5ghz - Only the router will show and no nodes will have a guest network - If I create two guest networks - One for 2.4ghz so Test 2.4 & One for 5ghz - Test 5ghz, Only Test 2.4 will show !

@visortgw there is 3 tab thread about ComputerSteve’s 3004/3006 issue here, but it seems to have petered out.

[EDIT] And this related thread:

Right -- The consensus seems to be it doesn't work right. At least with mixing the firmware versions - This really doesn't help people who have mixed firmware systems.

I’m not sure that was the consensus, but I would agree the implementation of Main/Nodes with 3006/3004 is different (limited?) vs 3004/3004 (which is also limited) as opposed to how it should work, and does, with 3006/3006.

I’m not sure this is something @RMerlin can fix for you though, I believe it’s all down to Asus i.e. I’m almost certain @RMerlin cannot fix it in this or any other firmware, unfortunately.

So the options are I guess reverting to HW that can do 3004/3004, living with 3006/3004 implementation, upgrading to the all singing all dancing 3006/3006 (or 3006/3006VLAN) option or… bailing out and moving to a different manufacturer.
