Installing pihole directly on asus router

when i try installing pihole on ax56u with either jessie or stretch i get the error " main: line200: /dev/fd/62: no such directory or file " how do i fix it?

While some people have had varying success following this guide in the past, as pihole continues to make changes, I see using this approach becoming more troublesome since even the developers of pihole will tell you that it is not ment to be ran inside a Debian chroot.
