IoT Devices falling off nodes (only) always requires reboot to fix

As promised, 1-week later with no instability at all. It's nice to have some boring time without hunting gremlins and I firmly believe that the combination of optimizing the configuration along with the BE86U update were the primary items that have brought this stability. Now I will toggle back on the wired Access VLAN on the BE86U node and see if stability remains or if that problem is still existing.
Code:
Uptime 6 days 16 hours 50 minute(s) 47 seconds

I didn't make the change yet to enable the wired VLAN, though intend to do so this weekend. I felt that getting another week in to ensure stability made more sense and I can confirm that things have stayed fully stable. I haven't even loaded the _2 release of 102.7 yet as I wanted to keep the main router and BE86U nodes online for the same duration.

Adding to this update, the BE82U and BE58 Go both received updated stock ASUS firmware updates, which I loaded this morning:

Code:
AiMesh router
RT-BE88U
Current Version : 3006.102.7

AiMesh Node
RT-BE82U
Current Version : 3.0.0.6.102_39254-gc155c5b_1531-g93455_BB0B

RT-BE86U
Current Version : 3.0.0.6.102_39260-g3547d94_1525-g8972c_BB0B

RT-BE58 Go
Current Version : 3.0.0.6.102_39125-g4fa73b5_1317-g6ef7a_BB0C

That will be the litmus test. I will watch with interest.

I upgraded my remote system to 3006.102.7_2 Main and two of the three nodes and it’s been very stable, possibly even more than when I first disabled the VLAN on the Ethernet ports.

I’m not going to reenable VLANs for the moment, will probably try again when the GPLs in the current stock firmware (or later editions thereof) make their way into Merlin FW. The change logs do not mention VLAN improvements but do suggest better handling of Wi-Fi and AIMesh, possibly contributing to the stability you’re seeing with stock nodes. RMerlin mentioned April / May for GPLs.

I’d like to keep Merlin due to various addons (wireless report, MerlinAU) and watchdog scripts which I would lose if I reverted to stock.

I have updated all devices to current, including the main router to 102.7_2 now. I have also enabled wired VLAN set to Access for the one device on my BE86U and have started my stability clock now.

About the only issue I had to this point is networkmap not refreshing clients, though I have seen that intermittently across the past several Merlin firmware builds and it never affected stability. Thankfully, issuing "killall -9 networkmap" from SSH allows the watchdog service to restart networkmap and for clients to refresh without requiring a full router restart.

That client refresh issue seems pretty common but, luckily, it's just more annoying than anything actually problematic.

6 days in, no issues with connectivity; wired VLAN functioning perfectly. This latest batch of stock firmware, which ASUS also sent email notifications about, appears to address the issues.

Great news. I’ll hang in there for Merlin’s update 🙏
