Why and how can the LAN MAC address and 2.4GHz MAC address be the same? On my RT-AC68P (FW 3.0.0.4.384_45149) LAN and 2.4GHz are the same; the last octet on the 5GHz is different.

Yes, disconcerting isn't it :D. Notice how the WAN interface also has the same MAC address. But AFAICT it's always been that way for all the routers based on Broadcom's reference design. I'm guessing it works because the WAN and LAN interfaces aren't real interfaces, they're just pseudo interfaces created out of the switch chip.
