New Around Here
Hello all!
First post here and I must say that I really am a newbie at this network monitoring business, but circumstances are forcing me into it.
The situation is our 13 yr old son is finding his way into porn on his cell phone and it seems that the firewall isn't catching it. There is also traffic going into and out of his phone at 1 and 2 in the morning. I don't want to block his phone from the network as it will just activate LTE and I will lose visibility. I am also aware I can only monitor while he is home on my network.
So I followed this link - https://www.howtogeek.com/68886/how-to-configure-your-router-for-network-wide-url-logging/ and downloaded a couple syslog softwares. I activated the syslog server in my Asus 68P and directed it to my laptop which i gave a static IP. I can't find the syslog on my laptop anywhere. I put Merlin on the router and that did not seem to help me.
Is there a better/easier way to get what websites are accessed when? Is it even possible?
Thanks,
Matt
