I have the AC86u and a Synology NAS setup with Synology DDNS domains and subdomains. The NAS logging captures the ip address of every new connection.
When I access the NAS from outside the LAN (using the domain or subdomain) , the correct ip address of the outside client is captured.
But when I access the NAS from a device on my LAN (again using the domain or subdomain), the INTERNAL IP address of the router is logged, and not the INTERNAL IP of the LAN device. If I access the NAS using the local IP Address, then the correct INTERNAL IP of the LAN device is logged.
My question is, is this a "side effect" of a NAT loopback? i.e. it allows me to access the NAS using a domain (instead of local IP), but it somehow loses the originating local IP Address of the client device?
Thx.
