NG R7960P custom firmware

Hello - New to this site. I have a Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC3600 R7960P purchased from Costco in December '19. I understand this is the same inside as the R8000P. Correct me if I am wrong. What custom firmware will work with this if any? If no custom firmware, does anyone know if any will be developed for this model? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I thought someone posted somewhere a procedure/firmware for converting it to an R8000? I do not have one but always wondered about the Costco models that were always one model# off from the retail ones... seems the perfect place to buy a router and return it after 60 days etc..
