Obtain RT-N65R temps

New Around Here
I did find the commands from RMerlin

wl -i eth1 phy_tempsense
wl -i eth2 phy_tempsense

But for the life of me I can't get them to execute in telnet, I'm a Windows guy, can someone tell me where to run them from here?

ASUSWRT RT-N65U_3.0.0.4 Fri Feb 22 15:44:23 UTC 2013
admin@RT-N65R:/tmp/home/root#

I proactively apologize for being a complete tool

Many thanks.

That command is for Broadcom-based routers. The RT-N65 is based on a Ralink chip, so that won't work.

Well at least I'm not too much of an idiot, thanks for clearing that up. Do you know of any way to get the internal temps from this baby? It's not hot, got it on a laptop cooler, I was just interested after reading all the hubbub about it heating up.

No idea, I never played with any Ralink-based router, sorry.

Personally, I just wouldn't worry about it. Asus designs router thermals based on the specs provided by the chip manufacturer. Modern chips are often designed to run a fairly high temperature while remaining perfectly stable. I remember my previous video card for example who could reach an internal temperature of a bit over 100C (you read that correctly...) without any issue (well, beside a loud cooling fan).

Also, I do not know about Ralink routers, but the Broadcom-based routers implement thermal management that will throttle the router's performance if the temperature gets too high. In the case of the RT-N66U for example I think it's set to 80C.

I hear ya about video cards (never got close to 100C tho, didn't need heat in the winter huh?). Anyway, much obliged and thanks for all you do for the community. Had I done more research (and not gotten such a good deal on the N65 [$98]), I would have gotten an N66 just so I could've flashed it with your firmware. When AC gets fleshed out, an Asuswrt-Merlin compatible router is on the list.
