Mine is a AC68U
I upped mine to 1300,800
it is making the network a little unstable
so I put it back @ 1100,800
I have 4 DLINK DCS-930L wireless cameras
1 is pointed out my front window. I use a Samsung tablet and the Dlink app to go to LOCAL cameras (which is local wireless) to view, so I can be looking out the front window because my back is to it (I live in a townhouse).
The video is not coming out as smooth
when a car drives by there is a pause (as the vehicle is moving about say 5mph because of a speed bump).
The video gets jerky. Like the vehicle has moved 2 feet and I get the refresh and then a second goes by and the same happens again.
The camera sends signal to the router and the router sends signal to the tablet. It is NOT a direct connection from one internal ip to another
It seems to be ok on 1100,800.
The tablet connects at 2.4Ghz and is 4 feet from the router.
So I think the upped frequency to 1300,800 is causing my problems. So I just switch it back.
 
Try 1200,800.

I don't really think thats related to OC, use stock speeds for a while and you will see the same happening.
 
Just used this commands

nvram set clkfreq=1000,800
nvram commit
reboot

to OC my AC68U and after reboot i have no response from router:
-no icmp ping
-no dhcp ip
-no wireless network

Thats perfectly normal, your router does not allow DDR 800MHZ speed, you need to press WPS botton and then turn on the router without releasing WPS.

You should do "nvram set cpuclkyouwant(800,1000,1200),666" instead.
 
Done, it's ok now. Now it's on 1Ghz and ram at 667Mhz. I found a few weeks ago an aplication from asus saying it can change the ram speed. Don't remember the name....

You probably don't need that application, it will overclock your RAM from 533 to 667mhz. RT-AC68U comes now at 667MHZ by default.
 
on my AC68U the speeds seem the same...but the AC68U is supposedly faster
and I have mine at 1100,800
so I guess it can process more......
but my DLNA server quit and the router does NOT show up in iMac/Finder

guys, I'm considering overcloacking my AC68 but everytime I see posting their CPU temperature, mine is already, at stock speed, higher than anyone else. My CPU temperature is always around 94-95C. Should I even consider overcloacking to at least 1000 or 1100? What temperature is considering risky?

I don't think your router runs at full speed if it's 95°C warm because it downclocks itself, so even if you overclock it it will not run at those speeds. How come it is so hot? Is it like 35°C in your room? Does it have 'room to breathe' ?
 
But you can try to do this command with and without overclock too see how fast it is and if my above statement is true:

openssl speed aes-128-cbc

Router has lots of room to breath. Temperature in the room is around 24-25°C. It already ran that hot since day one with Asus default firmware build on it. Even if I power it off for like 10 minutes and power it back on. When The GUI load and I go to check, temperature is already at 94°C or so. I though it was actually normal until I stumble into this thread and see people mentionning temperature of 83°C and such.

Like I said, router is at the top of a shelf, with lots of room to breath. About 2 feet from the ceilling (placed it there to have maximum range since it's located in my basement). I am not sensing excessive heat coming out of it though and it seem to run cooler than my previous cisco E4200.

will try that command tonight when I get home and let you know.

There's a simple explication for that, i had the same problem on one AC68U, the passive cooling (screws) / termal pads are not in place.
You must open the router to fix it, other way you will keep those high temperatures, once you've made those changes you will go to around 80º. Unscrew a little bit the 4 screws and you will notice the cooler straight now, making full contact with the shielding/chips.

AC68U cooling it's bad concept IMO, take a look and see it by yourself:

Don't want to open it and break the seal and void my warranty espicially since I am still within my return period. Makes me wonder if I should return this one and get another one. Can't believe ASUS quality dept would miss on thermal pads...

side note: Hggomes Je remarques que le site où tu me montre les images est en francais. Est-ce que ta première langue est le francais comme Merlin? Si c'est plus facile, tu peux m'écrire en francais.
