QNAP NAS HDD Capacity - hardware limitation?

I've had a look at a number of Qnap's NAS offerings and they all list maximum capacities. For instance, the TS-409 supports up to 4TB storage (4x1TB).

Which brings me to my question: is this based on currently-supported hard disk sizes, so would I in the future be able to fit it with 4x2TB drives giving a maximum storage capacity of 8TB? I'd obviously want the NAS to be somewhat future-proof as my storage needs grow!

I notice that the Drobo lists 16TB as being its max capacity, even though this is currently impossible!

Thanks for the reply.

Just a suggestion, perhaps your product specs should mention that the capacity is limited by current hard drive capacities and will increase in line with these (after the drives are approved).
