QoS - should I ?

I have rigged myself a small home net, with emphasis on streaming video on demand, mostly movies from Vudu and Netflix.

The dark knight is the center of this.

a) That Firewall - I have turned it off, should I really use that one?

b) QoS. Very unsure if I need this, but I should like some high priority for my bluray player, which is set to a static IP

c) I have 9 gadgets on my N66U, my TV, Sonos box and receiver hardwired via switch, wifi to my Xperia Z, Ipad and Iphone. Wifi/ 5 ghz to my macbook pro.

d) I am the only user of this router

e) Switch: Zyxel GS-108 S (where my bluray is hardwired to the first, highh priority port)

If it ain't broke, don't futz with it.

QoS helps only if you have internet traffic from multiple sources simultaneously.

So, no FW and no QoS for my setup then.

Ok, that will make things very much easier to run.

Because its a security issue from outside your network. Why would you not want the firewall is there a reason ?

I'd also like to know why you wouldn't use the router's firewall? It protects not only your computers (that should have their own firewalls, but it's not a problem to have multiple firewalls), but also phones, tablets, and any other clients that you may have on your home network that don't have firewalls and may be used by others to break into your home network.

You lose nothing by just having your router's firewall on, and have a lot to gain. I just don't understand why you wouldn't just have it turned on?

First reason is for security. Without a firewall, it means anyone from the Internet can connect to anything on your home network.

The second reason is that NAT (the feature that allows your computers to all share the same public IP) is part of the firewall itself.

Third reason is a lot of router features are also tied to the firewall. This is needed for instance for port forwarding, UPnP, Parental Control, QoS, etc...
