Hello folks, my coworker is willing to sell me a used an RT-AC68U for a pretty good price but I am unsure if it can do what I need it do. Can this router create a link to another router using the 5Ghz band and then share the internet using the 2.4Ghz band? Anyone have an experience with this router and this function? Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Without programming, I don't think that is possible. What price is being considered for the used router?

Thanks for your response. He is willing to sell it to me for $50. I think it's a good price so my best bet is to replace my current router with it and see if it has the coverage I need.

$50 is a good / great price for that used router. I would go over to his home, install the latest RMerlin firmware on it, do a reset to factory defaults and then physically unplug it. It is now ready to be installed at your location and you'll know that the router is actually working properly too.

What is the size of the property to be covered? How many levels and type of construction of walls and ceiling does it have? Do you expect to be able to use it outside the building? Are you able to physically locate it in the center of the area to be covered?

Buy it for $50.00 and if you don't like it sell it for $100.00. Where is he located I'll buy it?
