I recently replaced my Linksys EA6900 with a Netgear R7800. After the replacement, the AppleTV4 connected to a Netgear GS116E v2 Ethernet switch fails to detect the Windows 10 iTunes server, which is also connected to the same switch. The GS116E v2 is the sole connection to the R7800's Ethernet ports. There were no such problems for three years with the EA6900. I am running the latest firmware on both the router and the switch.
The fix is to disable IGMP snooping on the GS116E v2, although I still occasionally have to reboot the AppleTV4 when it finds the iTunes server but not the content. There are some posts regarding Bonjour compatibility problems with the GS116E v2 in the Netgear forums when IGMP snooping is enabled, but I do not understand the interaction with the R7800? Any thoughts?
