Are you an AB-Solution user that uses Chrome (not Chromium) as your browser?
Go into settings in Chrome and Advanced then scroll to Content settings.
Open Content settings and scroll to Add Blocking then click it.
Switch the slide to on and the setting should change to Allowed.
...

Works for Vivaldi 1.14.1077.55, which doesn't have a built-in ad-blocker (so nothing to change in Content settings):

Updated Ab-solution whitelist (as described previously for US):

Flushed and restarted browser. Not getting Tim's plea anymore, but sure made my browser crawl for ~10 minutes (I had >2 dozen panes open that were all loading veerrrrrryyyy sslllooooowwlllyyy).

Irony is that I only installed Ab-solution 2 days ago, spent a couple hours testing. Then I completely disabled Ad Blocker+, which had a rather short whitelist, including snbforums. Adding those last two Ab-solution whitelist lines will probably make me revert to browser solutions. Oh well, at least I still have the old AB+ stuff. :(

Really weird - and this is likely more of a ChromeOS thing than anything else...

ChromeOS 65 (Version 65.0.3325.184 (Official Build) (64-bit)) - the change is breaking mouse-based scrolling on my burner chromebook (Lenovo N22 Touch).

This is likely more of a Chrome issue perhaps, but it's odd that it breaks a very specific function - touchpad scrolling works fine, and the touchscreen is fine, just the mouse and wheel scrolling...

Why Chromebook?

I'm on the road this week, and the N22 is my go-to machine when traveling...

While I totally understand your needs for ad revenue, people don't like being 'strong armed' into viewing adverts. Most people block adverts because of malvertising and the continued privacy issues inherent with tracking etc and after the news this week on facebook this may have not been the best time to do it, especially this way.

That's just my take on it. If you had the banner show once then fair enough but to have it set as it is so its as intrusive as possible may well alienate some regular and more causal users. I have seen this done by other sites and people just went elsewhere, it did not work out well. So forcing people to view adverts with this banner is like a showdown really and I don't think that's the best approach. I would rather pay a small sub than view ads personally.

I really don't like ads. How much would it cost to hide them per member via a special membership like @RMerlin suggested?
I must admit I have on my tablet adblock plus set to allow certain ads including this site but I wont on my main pc. I also would rather donate via PayPal like the 'Kitz' forum I visit or via Patreon.

Sorry for those of you having problems. And thanks to those who already had SNBForums whitelisted. There just aren't enough of you, however.

I've changed the form of the notice to be easier to deal with, but it will stay up until I gather more data about adblockers where whitelisting isn't working.

Please report the problems in this thread.
whitelisting is still not working for ab-solution there are default domains whitelisted and snbforums.com is NOT blacklisted, but I also have this yellow banner since yesterday and I DO see all the adds on the top and right side of each page. please fix this obnixious banner. You are only upsetting users of good will.
I'm Using Edge as a browser, with no additional plugins.

Just an observation. I use ABS and found a browser "content setting" called add blocking in Chrome. I changed the setting to "allowed" and the banner is gone. I have explored everywhere for a fix for Fire Fox but cannot find anything, lots of people asking for it as well. Hope this helps. I have no problem seeing adds on this site and never did have a problem with it. We need a midway solution here if there is one.

OK, I was wrong as I have only seen the Ad on a side bar never on the top and I have not blocked Ads in a couple of years. I did not realize eBlocker is a device. I thought it was software.

Tim, thanks for your tremendous work and effort expended.
i've read everything since your notice came up, worked on it all evening with no real results. On FF the site has always been white-listed in uBlock Origin and NoScript. There is no preference enabled for tracking in FF. Trying to enable permissions the address bar also didn't work. Pale Moon is the only other/least crippled browser on the machine, but I had no luck. Google analytics was enabled in the only tab in the newly refreshed browser; the notice went away briefly, came back and stayed. The browser cache empties automatically and periodically whenever the browser is up, and the session is entirely virtual, so both may be an issue. I'd dedicate a different browser to this site if it were possible even though I'm no longer able to spend as much time online. The VPNs aren't blocking ads, as they show up on the iPad Wife uses; the router also has 8.8.8.8 for video streaming.

If there's a way to enable ads. as longs as viagra isn't showing up I'll do whatever is possible and within reason to enable ads for this site. Along with most others who appreciate the vast trove of knowledge and content here, I'd seriously hate to see this go away. As Eric suggested, if a member subscription format could be made to your liking and funded by a mechanism other than p-pal, it has my vote. Keep the suggestions coming lads.

I very much appreciate the offer of sharing your donations, Eric. But I would never take away from what I'm sure is a pretty meager, although well-meaning revenue stream.

I've looked at sites using Patreon, for example and they are getting squat. Any site that isn't doing hundreds of thousands of uniques a day that tries to put up a paywall will be taking it down in short order because enough people won't sign up.

Yes, a few SNBForums regulars may be willing to throw a few bucks into the hat. But I'd bet the total in any given month wouldn't even come anywhere near covering my serving costs. And don't forget the ancillary services that need to be employed today for any site hoping to survive the DDOSes, constant doorknob rattling and overwhelming tide o' spam that hit my servers every day.

All I'm asking is that people let ads be displayed and to let Google Analytics reflect my true traffic level.

Consider offering a subscription option. While it's annoying, some sites have some sort of popup when an adblocker is detected that makes the site opaque and can't be closed. Doing that would give people the option of turning off their adblocker or paying. Personally I'd pay. I have no problems allowing ads on your site, but I have no desire or intention of going back to device based blocking. Router based is a far superior model for households and SMBs.

While I am opposed, in general, to intrusive ads, the primary reason I block them is to save bandwidth. Not all of us are blessed to live in an area with high quality internet access. I live in a rural area and my ISP chokes me off after 350gb of data in a given month. I save anywhere from 25gb to 100gb/month using ab-solutions.

I'd very much encourage you to adopt a dual option. I suspect many of us who won't allow gAnalytics & ad servers on our networks would pay a monthly (I'd prefer annual,) subscription.

Just my 2Cents.

Is the twitter tracker gone now, along with FB and Google?
