Why my /jffs partition is read only?

how i can mount it rw?

and why my jffs partition is empty?

is jffs no longer used?

"Format JFFS partition at next boot" is to "No" checked and "Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs" to "Yes" in the Advanced Settings -> Administration in System Tab

Try unsetting jffs2_size before trying to reformat. An empty unwritable /jffs means the partition did not get mounted due to some error.

The format option is on the Administration -> System page. Set it to "Yes", apply, then reboot.
 
/jffs is ever readonly and it listed not at the output of the mount command
 
Something is wrong with your jffs partition then, and I have no idea what, sorry.
 
How can I fix that? Does anyone have any ideas? Is a hardware memory defect possible?

Need the whole system log covering the entire boot process. This only shows a couple of DHCP leases getting allocated as a wireless client got connected.
 
where is it located? have full ssh access

And I can't upload my syslog.txt, it is crossed out immediately after the addition.

( "Default message log level" is "debug" and "Log only messages more urgent than" is "all" )

At the end is "kernel: nvram: consolidating space!".

That boot log is missing a lot of information. For instance, it should report the flash partitions, something like this:

That brcmnand partition is the jffs partition. So, something is interfering with your whole boot process, and there's no traces in the log.

Try a complete power cycle of your router instead of just rebooting it, just in case it might help, also remove that USB disk.
 
ok, can asusware.arm or entware interfere at my HDD there? where can I see what is used? and on the second partition is also a asusware.arm directory. is any of it used at all?

Entware/Download Master only gets setup much later in the boot process. Your process is misbehaving before even mounting USB partitions.
 
ok so my jffs problem can have nothing to do with the files on the hard drive?

is it safe to leave the syslog at jffs? (because there are many write accesses, or?) or can you also move them to the HDD?

EDIT: k i have the router restarted and it was fixed the way it looks.

the hdd is also mounted with the 2 partitions

The router doesn't log directly to JFFS. It logs to RAM, and occasionally syncs it up with the JFFS partition. Asus's high end routers use NAND that is rated for 10K PE cycles if I recall, which means there is nothing to worry about.
 
good and I thought it is constantly written on the jffs partition. so I can be reassured
