Since this caused my hours of head-scratching I thought I'd post in case it trips up anybody else. I use a Mac with OSX Mavericks and generally use Chrome.
I have a new AC68U with Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.37 firmware that I had changed the admin user and password on, but when I went to login, I couldn't. I also couldn't use the original 'admin/admin'. I had to reset the router each time it failed.
I finally thought to try Firefox and it worked great. No idea why it's just the user/pass, though that one causes an immediate reboot (it seems).
Anyway, I couldn't find anything searching here, so maybe this will be a telltale for someone else some day... (most likely my future self).
