[RT-AC68U] Looses ethernet connection to PC every few hours

deafsheep

New Around Here
Hello.
My firware version is 3.0.0.4.380_1842 - latest official ASUS firmware I could find.
OS: Windows 7.
Problem is - my PC looses connection (by cable) to router now and then - for about 5-10 seconds (the LAN icon becomes crossed with red X) and then is restored without any problems. I can instantly reconnect to router and it works OK, only shows that lease time for my PC is 24 hours again (meaning it re-acquired IP address).
Tried latest firmware, factory reset and manual re-setuping, new LAN cable (from router to PC).

System log on router is silent - no messages at that time or around it.

Any ideas how I could solve/diagnose this?
Also how could I understand if it is a problem of my PC or router? I did chage to this router recently, and my PC didn't loose connection before...

Thanks in advance for any help :)

looks like an issue with your nic or your router and modem combination

Thanks for reply :)

Yea, my nic could be a problem in theory, but it was fine before, with another router. I suppose I could use that old router for some time to check that again.
Why exactly do you think it's my nic btw?

How could it be a problem with router+modem combo? If that would be true, then PC connection to router would be fine, but router's connection to WAN would be lost every few hours? (btw I have static IP scheme/connection, so modem is at my ISP or w/e, not really sure how static IP connection works).

Anyways - do you know of any ways to diagnose any of ideas your brought up?

You could try another nic or do new nic driver install with default settings.
there could be conflicting settings. i have seen connections that don't do well with auto negotiate connectio settong and require hard 1gb connection. Just use default driver setting and turn features on or off one by one.

I've had all sorts of issues with wired and wireless connections with 3.0.0.4.380_1842 so I had to downgrade.

Hey.

What firmware version did you find to be stable for you?
1031. I know a lot of people have had issues with the 68U + 380.x but it has worked fine for me. I have a 68P. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but 1842 had all sorts of issues, especially when streaming.

Hm I wonder if maybe I should have just used the very original that was installed from the box for some time first... But the update process was so fast and easy... :))
