RT-AC87U Problems flashing with the last few alphas from the github

I know these builds are alphas, but I didn't know where to post this, so I'll post in here for you merlin.

Last week I was having problems flashing my router after installing alpha 1. I could flash via the Asus utility and the flash would work fine. but the router would always fail flashing via network.

With the router running on a firmware build from the 13th of this month - when trying to update the firmware with a build from today - the router goes through the flashing sequence, says it's successfull, but still has the old files on from the 13th.

It flashes successfully via the Asus utility though.

I have only started having these flashing problems in the last few alpha builds - I just thought the Merlin should know, there's a possible fault in the firmware (BTW I used a clean build of Ubuntu 14 and a fresh download from the git hub to build the latest alpha 2).

I'm on build version - 378.53 alpha 2 (d6a4781).

Here's hoping the next build will flash properly over the network rather than using the Asus utility.

The RT-AC87U is my primary router, and I've had no problem at all flashing test builds over the past two weeks. There is no problem with the firmware code itself, the issue is on your end, sorry.

Probably you are updating the FW via wireless or with dynamic IP.

Yes I was flashing wirelessly - but it would flash ok doing it that way on the 378.52 versions of the firmware and on previous versions as well.

I'll try flashing the original Asus firmware then see if that works, then I'll try flashing an alpha build over it, I'll let you know the results.

Thanks.

Flashing via wireless is unpredictable, you could end on an incomplete FW flash, it could happen on any FW version.

You are welcome.

Ok thanks for the fast reply guys, as you say if it's working ok for you, then problem lies at my end. At least you have confirmed it's not a firmware issue.

Next time I'll try via a wired connection first.

Thanks.
