Hi Everyone,

My RT-AX88U is crashing a few times a day. What I noticed that these collide with my audio conference start times - Teams.

I have the AX-88 connected to my fiber modem and a few LAN devices, plus a AX56U as a mesh node connected via WiFi.

I reset the router to defaults and cleared NVRAM, without restoring the settings, set everything up from scratch and after a few days the issue is back.

Crashlog shows up in the logs, and I am not sure what to look for in the large amount of data. A snippet from the log.

Asus routers use an old Linux kernel that has a lot of bugs in it. I wouldn't be surprised if you see this occur from time to time its the equivalent to a blue screen on windows.

I've been using the router for 2 years now and never had this issue before. Now it happens 2-5 times a day.

Is your unit getting hot when this happens? Every Asus router I've ever had that went bad started heating up as it failed.

any change you are on Version 3.0.0.4.386.45934.
Had some issues on that version.
I roled back to pre version. and now on the Newest. no problems again :)
I have had no problems on the asuswrt Merlin

I think I've found the problem - RT-AX56u as a mesh node. I disconnected that, and all issues stopped, so far. Connected RP-AX56 instead and have not experienced a reboot since. Will test for another week.

An interesting thing is, that those reboots only started after I moved the AX56U to a spot 2m from where it had been sitting for 6 months.

Will continue testing and report back.

Still the same. The router reboots under certain conditions - my impression - higher load.

I now installed Merlin firmware to see if that helps.

This issue started plaguing me this weekend though I'm on a pair of AX6600's.

They've been running fine for a few months and now several crash/restarts each day as you describe.

I noticed in the other thread you linked that someone proposed it was related to Fiber ONT/PPPoE settings that appear to be for CenturyLink ISP. Any chance moving either the AX56 or other settings have been helpful?
