RT-BE58 Go + AsusMerlin = Best Value for Money Home Router

Just integrated an RT-BE58 Go (running the latest Asuswrt-Merlin) into my vehicle setup to serve as a dedicated mobile gateway.

My primary goal was to bypass the stability issues often found with smartphone hotspots. This setup provides a stable for my in-car Plex client and GPS navigation gear.

On the backend, I've configured an automated WireGuard tunnel back to my home network. This not only allows for seamless resource access but also pipes all system logs directly to my centralized Log Center on the home router.

I purchased one recently to pair with my mini Starlink. My wife and I often travel to fairly remote places here in Northern California (lots of big mountains).
When I set it up, I attached it to my AX88U Pro as a Router with the AX88U Pro plugged into the Go WAN port - mainly to update firmware to Asuswrt-Merlin and install Tailmon.

I gave it a different SSID (naturally) and connected my iPad and Mac to its WiFi for some testing.
It went great and in fact I totally forgot to join them back to the AX88U Pro. For a week!!!
The Go worked so well I didn’t realize I was on it for so long.

Great piece of gear for $100!!!
