rt-n66u wont reboot after fw update

Hallo gentlemen, as per subj, my n66u wont reboot after the fw updating process is finished: i've to manually power it off (sorry i dont remember since which fw version happened). I tried to clear nvram settings but the issue persists. Any suggestion?

Hold reset button while powering on. When the led starts blinking slowly use Asus software tool to upload fw through USB port. I think it is rather impossible to brick this router in normal use, so you should be able to recover.

I have never heard of using the usb port?

Download recovery tool from Asus homepage. I've used it myself one week ago going from DD-WRT back to Merlin.
