Good People,

I want to have a per user quota configured for Samba on Merlin firmware. Any help is much appreciated.

This is a problem that could be fixed for$20 US dollars by purchasing a low end NAS such as PogoPlug

...and installing Samba on it...

Or buy an $85 dollar NAS that already has lots of Samba features

The Samba on Merlin firmware is quite minimal, for example limited to 9 users and without quotas as you point out. This makes sense to me, how could someone find more sophisticated Samba support really important, and also not be willing to spend $20-$85 dollars to get it.

My vote is for RMerlin to not spend time on adding Samba features to Merlin software. And am saying this even though several of my clients are using Samba on Merlin routers. Would never consider having clients who need more sophisticated Samba services, try to get those from a tiny box that is focused on being a WiFi router with great radios. My clients with more file server needs are better served with say less expensive EdiMax routers plus a dedicated NAS, for the same amount of money as a high end Merlin router.
