Just got my RT-68U
Using it now......
so will see how it pans out......
Once I put it to 192.168.0.1 ip my dlink cameras came back up
because they were already programed with the SSID and password
so have to see how the act on mydlink.com
I have to flash this router,
going to with something that is stable......
looking around now

I would be looking at RMerlin's firmware. Fixes a lot of Asus bugs, and adds convenient features and enhancements.

ok
I have the RT-AC68U and it is on the latest firmware

3.0.0.4.374_5656-g8d0a991

Where could I get this for this model?
How would I load it in? Thru the Asus firmware loader/update screen on the router?
Does it not do anything?
thanks:)

Loaded the merlin version
3.0.0.4.374.43_2
So other than putting the radio up to 200mW (which is not much) on 2.4Ghz/5Ghz and running WiFi Analyzer/Android to check signal SNR,
I am not interested in doing anything else.
I wish I could have found a router that outputs 1 WATT and goes thru to channel 14/2.4Ghz
I know 1/6/11 but I settle on 1 because there is really no other ch 1 close, all show up at 70-90 SNR inside my townhouse......

Question is, can the Asus RT-AC68U go to ch 14?

The router can do any channel, it is the region that specifies which ones are available to the user.

1W output is not within the WiFi spec's, is it?

no, 1 watt is not....would cause too much interference with surrounding electronic devices
maybe cause a malfunction in someone's pace maker....I dunno.....
As for the channel, if I could get the router to do ch 14 then I would get no interference
I do see a motorola SSID on 5G come up that is in a channel range that I could not get with the WRT1900AC and does not show up on the Asus either.
I use Android Wifi Analyzer
and it is a good tool...
It says MotoVAP_M91338SA1F3P
from ARRRIS Group on Channel 112
I wonder if that is part of Comcast Wi-Fi spots.....but that channel does not show up on the 5G channels
