I'm using the Smart Connect to keep a single SSID for devices to connect to and can connect to 5GHz when the signal is strong enough and 2.4 when farther away. It seems however that everything just uses the 2.4 connection no matter what.

This is the default Smart Connect configuration. How do I adjust it so that anything with ~-80db (2 bars) signal of 5GHz will use it and anything else will just use 2.4GHz?

I think -80dB is much too less to get usable connections.
You can change roaming settings to your preferences, but I dont know how good this is programmed and really working.
Search for explanation how to change them, there is a good description for it somewhere seen it in the past.
