USB port access

Not having used the USB port on an Asus router before, I was just wondering about the Asus software.
Is it possible to access the USB port just as a standard port on a remote PC? In other words, if I connect anything to that port, just see it as if it is plugged in to a USB port on a PC on the LAN?
I was interested for tethering, whether it is possible to access the phone using something like Screen Copy, so it's usable over the network when tethered.

Generally the USB port on Asus routers is used for attaching a USB storage device for local/remote storage device access (using AiCloud, VPN, etc.) and for mobile/USB modem USB tethering to provide WAN access. Some Asus Support documents:

Don't know if there are any Addon scripts that would assist with what you are trying to accomplish. Perhaps review the various Addon scripts to see if anything may apply.

There are various mobile apps apparently that are capable of remote mirroring and screen recording, it's possible one of those may suit your use case if "Screen Copy" doesn't.

If the "Screen Copy" you are referring to is https://scrcpy.org/. It appears that in addition to that application offering USB support it also offers WiFi (TCPIP) support. Maybe setting up a VPN server on the router to allow remote access from another device would allow that remote device to use SCRPY to access a phone connected via WiFi to the router that is also running SCRPY. If you haven't done so already, may want to contact the developers of the SCRPY software/app directly to see what options their software supports for remote access either by WiFi or by cellular data.
Open Source Project: Scrcpy now works wirelessly!

Yeah, you can plug stuff into the USB port on an Asus router, but it’s not quite the same as using a USB port directly on a PC. Usually, people use it for things like attaching storage (USB drives) or printers, which you can access over the network. For tethering your phone, though, you typically won’t get direct access to it like you would if it were plugged into a PC.

Some Asus routers do support USB tethering, where your phone’s data connection can be used for internet access through the router, but stuff like screen mirroring or using your phone as a USB device on the network isn’t a typical feature. You might need something extra, like USB over IP software, to make it work like that, but it’s a bit more involved.
