Vpn on Wifi won't work

Asus merlin RT-AC86U is the main, RT-AC66U ap's. the vpn works wired but not on the wifi.
Any ideas, i use express and Mullvad vpn inside the main router. Is there something in the router not configured ?

Are you using guest networks on the RT-AC66Us?

Testing out of the way , narrowed it down to mullvad and vpn director policy rules.
Express passed the test

I have an opposite problem - it won't work with mobile data internet
