Hi Everyone,

I'm inexperienced with VPN and looking for recommendations. I'm a sole-proprietor and host SugarCRM on a Synology NAS within my network. I'd like to be able to access SugarCRM when traveling. I might transfer a file or two remotely, but I don't envision doing any significant file transfers. My main goal is to update and access SugarCRM remotely. Currently my router is a DIR-655.

To accomplish remote access, I'm guessing that I need a new router with VPN and not a full UTM device. Security is important. Any recommendations or thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

VPN routers make this pretty easy. There's a lot of different choices out there, so just pick one you like. :)

Thanks All

Tanks all for responding.

I ended up hosting Sugarcrm with my web hosting provider. It was much easier than I imagined and I think the responsiveness will be better than anything I could achieve with the Synology.

I knew I could use the Synoology to host a VPN connection, but I didn't like the idea of having it host VPN. I will likely pickup a VPN router once I have time to dedicate to setting it up. Hopefully as I browse smallnetbuilder something will stand out above the rest and then I will buy.

Thanks again everyone.

I think you've actually found the best solution. :) Professional hosting puts all the software management, threat management, and all that junk on them and allows you to focus on work. And because it's with a host, you've probably already got access to it from anywhere now, right?
