What are your thoughts on the new AI router GT-BE19000AI?

TP-Link's website has a report and info on WiFi 8 and its first ever WiFi 8 connection established. 0 throughput increase compared to WiFi 7, but stability and roaming/mesh built in to the bn standard. Oh boy....

Can’t wait to see the price.

Ouch!
Hopefully the BE98 Pro will be ridiculously low priced for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, then Casa Griswald can enter the wifi 7 world.

The Features page has been updated to show this is the 2nd model with AFC. I hope it is enabled in the firmware and is working in your area...

Please post your findings with screen shots, so the Forum can evaluate this new router.

$10 off $899.99 is not enough of a savings for me to risk my life asking The Wife about purchasing. a non-RMerlin supported router.
:) Sure will do. My router is arriving tomorrow. Will post my impression about the router over the weekend.

Just got mine today from BB and as expected, this router is not yet ready for prime time. $900+ and has a bunch of flaws, not to mention the gui is now white and different than the previous ROG layout. Took me a minute to get used to it.

When AiProtection is enabled, my wireless speeds are severely degraded. Also when MLO is enabled, my iOS devices keep disconnecting or refusing to connect to WiFi.

Had to disable AiProtection as a result. Hopefully this is not a huge security concern for now.

FYI both of these issues were not present on my previous BE96U and BE98 Pro models.

Also other various bugs that need to be addressed via a firmware upgrade.

I opened up a support ticket to report these issues.

What about power consumption? It was supposed to be a big improvement with this version...
There’s a new “AI Energy” feature which claims to reduce power consumption by 14% and it’s run automatically.

Thank you @Poseidon for checking!

I am wondering if I can get little/part/some/most of the same functionality running an ExpertWiFi EBG15 on firmware 3.0.0.6.102_45868 for one tenth of the cost. I'm limited to 1Gb fiber service here anyways...

I agree with you 100%. Firmware is buggy and the new white GUI is annoying and very slow refresh on Mac. They should have added at least a dark mode option. Had spent 10 hours to get all working, still having issue adding BE98Pro router as wireless AIMesh node. Work fine in wired mode but not on wireless :(
BTW, your AI energy snapshot is in dark mode... and I can't find it anywhere in the GUI. Did you receive any beta firmware from ASUS support?

It’s in “dark mode” because I’m using the IOS Asus app - not the white gui. It is there under “Energy Saving.”

This router needs a firmware update ASAP. Lol.
