Getting a 20 dBm difference.

How does an Asus router know what the signal strength is at each device?

Which do you think is more accurate?

You're looking at two different things.

The right picture is showing the strength of the signal received by the router from the Echo. The left picture shows the strength of the signal received by the phone from the router.

@ColinTaylor is correct, apples and oranges, both fruit just different.

My Mac reports a RSSI of -46 dBm but an app on the Mac reports -50 dBm. The difference is probably due to different methods used to calculate. My ASUS is reporting -58 dBm.

While my receive levels are closer than yours the difference between devices can be attributed to different electronics, different antennas, and difference in how the value is calculated. I would suspect that if you had two of the same model ASUS the differences would be much closer.

Keep in mind that 3dB is 2x the power... 6dB is twice more...
