I tried searching for the answer, but i dont think im wording it right, so im posting this thread.

Is there a benefit of buying a designated AP over turning a wireless router into an AP?

Didn't want to spend too much on a router, and was looking at the TL-WDR4300 router, seemed like it would be good as an AP.

Or should i look into like a amped ap20000g, or something like that.

Thanks for any help.

No real physical difference.
But if you buy something, get a low cost product that has a formal AP mode in addition to router and bridge. The admin UI will be easier.
No need to pay a premium for AP option...

I have a low cost ASUS RT-N12 setup in AP mode. Never have to reboot it. More than good enough for the handhelds in the house. Or one model younger.
