Simple question: Which wireless router has the fastest transfer rates (read/write) to an attached USB drive (NTFS)?

Since these routers don't run MS Windows, the highest speeds come from drives formatted as FAT32. Especially write speeds.

See this article, page 3, File Sharing. Both the WD and the Cisco's seem to have fast NTFS for this class of wireless router. Read the articles for both to understand pluses and minuses before purchasing.

When it comes to HDD USB and a Router they never live up to what was promise. WD has internal TB version of this router. Might be better, but if's based on what they had for the WD MY BOOK LIVE Gig Technology then reads and writes will be lousy on WD Green.

If they use one of those newer WD Red HDD then you might have something to thing about. Plus not one of the two USB ports is USB 3.0 still the USB 2.0. This one I was going to get but after reading and hearing what it's not doing I decided against it. Remember this is WD first attempt into the router business. Their NAS history has some issues? Just go to the WD forums and read all about it first then decide.

I do like the fact they decided to install and exhaust fan, were the other brands don't bother to do that.
