New Around Here
A simple, very newbish question regarding the NSA220. Which drive bay corresponds to which disk? My array has degraded and I can't figure out which drive to pull. I've searched quite a bit and can't find the info.

Can anyone help me out with a link, picture, or description?

Power down, pull a drive, power up, look at drive status.
My guess would be slots are numbered left to right looking at front.

Thanks for the response. That would be my guess on numbering too.

I was on the verge of trying that but held off because I was afraid of the chance that if I pulled the drive that is still good that when I popped it back in the NAS would want to recreate the volume and I'd lose the data.

I sent them an email a few days before posting here, but did not get a reply.

I've got the most important files backed up. I think I'll just remove the one I think has failed and accept the risk of losing the less important files.

If your volume is RAID 1, you should not lose any files.
If JBOD or RAID 0, the volume won't mount.

Your guess on numbering was correct. I replaced the drive and the RAID 1 array rebuilt without issue.

I used a 3 TB drive which it recognized as 2 TB since the NSA220 only supports up to 2 TB.

Thank you. Your input made me feel safer about the operation without worry of losing the data.

Glad it worked out. Hope you wrote the number on the slots to remind you! :)

And remember, RAID is NOT backup!
