what problems can it prevent?

Unexpected behaviour, if you were to set a port forward to a given IP, and another device used UPNP to forward the same port but to itself instead. Only one of the two can work.

Hi Merlin, thanks very much for this - if we don't have any MU-MIMO clients is there any benefit in having it enabled on the router or would it be better to have it disabled or not matter either way?

I'd keep it disabled just in case some clients might not be compatible. MU-MIMO is still considered as a beta feature by Asus, and the Wifi alliance won't begin validating MU-MIMO devices until this summer.

The GUI bug was pretty severe for me, and essentially made this unusable. I have close to 50 devices on this network, and wonder if the number of devices in use could be related to the GUI slowness.

Reverted to the most recent beta.

Hi Merlin!

First a big thank You for all Your hard work.
I´m running this early preview and for me it pretty stable, I moved from a 87U to this 88U.

One thing that is not working is which devices the AiCloud iOS app says is online.
I unlinked and added the router again but still its says devices (win PC) are online that aren´t.

Hi RMerlin

why not see customers?

FWIW, I had several issues with that page myself (using 380.58). Just did a factory reset to defaults and reconfigured everything manually. Now everything on that page works perfectly. YMMV.

No. Asus does not release GPL archives for beta releases.

Ok thanks for the confirmation. Was not sure cause you said u not believing that 2345 will be release one either . But you got your hands on this GPL before release. Ok i know now that afterwards it turned out to be the final release version. So i just thought maybe you got something from them. Sorry my fault. Thanks for clarification!

Well when I seen this in the change log, it had me wondering about the PS4, and if it will resolve the UPnP issue when running multiple consoles. As I know from doing so myself, on PS4 at least. First system would use port 3074 for gaming, then the second console would also use the same 3074 port, but second console would have a moderate NAT type because of it. Really I don't know if it's on the router, or system side. But first system should get 3074, and second console should be denied, and redirected to use port 3075. Which then both consoles would have open NAT types.

Consoles use a unassigned port when UPnP reports the default port is already in use. And then forwards that port through UPnP.

This change ensures that ports that are forwarded manually are removed from the allowed range in miniUpnpd. Just like how ports below 1024 aren't allowed by default. This prevents conflicts between the two.

@RMerlin; is this gpl 380_2345 just for ac-88u router or we can hope firmwares for others routers too?
