The Web GUI is painfully slow and not working as intended, rolled back to 380.58 for the time being.

And for most, the gui becomes responsive again after a short time of leaving the router sit there. ;)

my vpn clients lost the connection and router froze after 2 days . AC 3200 , Went back to 380.58

If it's working fine, not a big deal but yes, if you're running 380.59beta, it would be an upgrade.
Didn't Merlin include all the critical OpenSSL security fixes after Beta 2? If that's the case one should update from Beta 2 to Final right away for the security reasons alone.

Probably right. I should've mentioned possible security updates. I did a quick check and couldn't find the beta2 changelog.

None of them really applied to the firmware. One critical issue was actually already fixed months ago, and the second critical issue only applies to CPUs that support HW accelerated AES (the Broadcom CPUs don't).

Just upgraded my RT-AC68U from 380.58 to 380.59. I did not do an nvram reset yet, but have definitely noticed the very slow loading times for various pages on the router interface. This was not the case with 380.58.

it has been said many times just let it sit for like 10 minutes after flashing and it will go back to normal speeds, I think it was said this happens on ASUS fw too, and that it doing some maintance or something after a flash with newer FW that or it bug

Either way this SLOW UI is none issue if you let the router sit for bit after Flashing

Is there a planned fix for traditional QOS on the 5300?

Asus said it wasn't a priority at this point, so no idea if or when they will fix it.

That worked. It was an adventure... but it worked. I'm now on the latest merlin. Thanks guys!
You may also want to try out Johns fork if you are rocking an N66. Most agree thats about the best version for that particular router. (and the older MIPS based routers). You will loose some of the "pretty" gui features since the 374 builds so be aware of that. Oh and now that you are off the latest ASUS stock you can use the GUI to manage firmware again verses the recovery tool.

Hi Merlin,

Is it possible to downgrade version 380.59 to 380.57 in the GUI (administration -> firmware upgrade tab) ?

I'm now on 380.59, but I would like to downgrade to version 380.57.

I'm asking this because I have never downgraded before.

I'm using a N66U.

Thanks.

Yes.

Merlin, what's in store for the next release? Is there a plan to do away with Asus' option to downgrade or is that only implemented in the CFE? Until I know for sure, I'm going to be very hesitant about "upgrades". Thanks again. And no issues here, from what I've tested, on my 66u other than Samba, which I don't use.

Details haven't been finalized at this time, but currently the plan is for Asuswrt-Merlin to be certified by Asus. That will probably mean the same downgrade limitation will also apply.

On RT-AC86U QOS is broken when OpenVPN is on. Only the upload gauge works for both upload and download. If bandwidth is set to manual, upload and download are switched. Upload is download and download is upload.

Does this mean that if set to automatic it is working at all? Or even to manual?

AOL.

Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available for all supported models.

The highlight of this release:

  • Merged with Asus's 380_2697 GPL. This brings MU-MIMO support for the RT-AC87U and newer models, and resolves IPTV issues.
  • Experimental support for codel and fq_codel for Traditional QoS on ARM models. Note that Traditional QoS is currently broken for all SDK7 models, which means only the RT-AC56U and RT-AC68U are known to still be working. Also, initial testing has shown next to no real advantage of fq_codel versus the original sfq packet scheduler, so this remains a purely experimental feature. User feedback will determine if this feature will remain in future releases or not.
  • NAT Passthrough setting now allow you to determine whether or not to use the NAT helpers. Default Asus behaviour has been to either block the port, or allow it AND enable the NAT helper.
  • Webui enhancements. The DNSFilter page and the DHCP Static leases page now integrates with Asus's networkmap. In addition, the DHCP page now has sortable columns.
  • Daily/Monthly traffic report has been fixed on the newer models (RT-AC88U and up). Note that you STILL need to keep NAT acceleration disabled for these to return accurate results.
  • Multiple security fixes to Samba 3.6 were ported from OpenWRT, see the changelog for the list of CVEs addressed.
  • Improvements to OpenVPN: fixes to Exclusive DNS mode for clients, and added a new button that will revert OpenVPN settings to their factory default values.
  • miniupnpd was updated to 2.0, OpenSSL to 1.0.2h, and Tor to 0.2.7.6.

I'm interested in hearing about users' feedback regarding sfq vs fq_codel on any of the supported models (RT-AC56U or RT-AC68U). Fixes to newer models will have to come from Broadcom and/or Asus, problems seem tied to the recent switch to GMAC3 for the internal architecture used by the wifi + Ethernet interfaces.

Thanks to everyone who contributed during the beta test period!

If this is the case then will you still release your code to the public ? How will Asus make sure the code won't be compiled and released by others such as xvortex and Gomes ? I guess the question is how will Asus make sure only certified builders can wright code for Asus routers ?

Can someone post a link to the changes Asia is doing with firmware certification Wish I could see what I was typing on this page

The problem is with your Internet connection and has nothing to do with the router. That line indicates that either you are double NATted, or that your modem just rebooted, and your ISP still hasn't allocated a WAN IP to it. That IP you just got is what you typically get from a cablemodem that hasn't established a WAN connection upstream yet.
