Typically, at least in my experience, running the latest Asus baseline firmware is preferred with Merlin only on the primary router — you should have no issue.
Thanks for the quick response. I will give the setup a try!

@shabbs How are you liking the GT-AX6000? just signing up with rogers for the 1.5gb plan, and I see your from T.O

Any issues

Did you create an entry like
Code:
arp -i br0 -s 192.168.1.254 ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
?
For me, such a entry does not live more than 8 minutes on 388.2alpha2, beta1, beta2 and release 388.2. Lives only on 388.2alpha1 or older versions.
12 hours, and the entry is still there.

Code:
admin@stargate:/tmp/home/root# arp -a | grep 199
? (192.168.100.199) at 80:86:00:11:22:33 [ether] PERM on br0

Ahhh men... haha i dont understand 🤪
I just did a hard reset and clean install.... just up and running for a few minutes at 388.2 asuswrt merlin
Ill report back if i have more info... also for others who having this issue...
Maybe something to do with running services / scripts / software / entware / scmerlin etc... or combination.

Thanks for your testing @RMerlin! Appreciate it a lot!

ps: at latest non merlin asuswrt it was working. entry was still in arp after having a good night sleep... so thats why i thought maybe things i did at first getting this router up and running and testing your firmware + entware scmerlin etc etc... because i installed entware (dont know why anymore / or what its about haha) but thats was not running on stock firmware... only had custom startup script on usbmount...

Anddd.....its gone again 🤯
Just checking out asuswrt home assistant intergaration. Are others who having this issue also running home assistant with asuswrt intergration? Thats also doing some things thru ssh...

Anything that causes changes to the network interface can potentially cause the removal of ARP entries. Could be anything you run that isn't part of the firmware, could be AiMesh reconfiguring the network... You will have to start eliminating elements on your end to figure out what triggers it on your particular setup.

Be nice if DNS redirector used both DNS servers instead of just primary, seems to ignore my 2e setup DNS or might be bug cos router is not the dhcp server

Dirty upgrade from 388.1.
All good so far on AX86U.
Thank you.

This is technically impossible. DNSDirector works by intercepting DNS requests and redirecting them to a different IP. A firewall redirection can only redirect to one destination, it has no way of knowing if the remote end is working or not.

Guess i just have to deal with it

cos router is not the dhcp server

Possible only in single router configuration. AiMesh is not working with external DHCP and perhaps your Guest Network 1.

First time I actually see the syslog say Radar detected.
Well, that explains 160Mhz thing.
I can actually say for 24h the network is connected the most stable in long time. Even "DUMB" IoT decices connect way better, faster and stabler.
Keep rocking @RMerlin !

It's been steady and fine. There was a crazy sale on when I got it so it was an acceptable expense even though it really wasn't needed. Was coming from an RT-AX86U as my main router... so the only real difference I notice is in the speed test results. At regular price, I don't think it's worth the "upgrade" just to match the Rogers offering. I got the 1.5G service to get a bigger upload speed and the monthly cost ended up being less than I was paying for the 1Gig service.

Updated my two routers and no problem detected.
23 hour(s) 45 minute(s) 53 seconds

Nice to se yellow exclamation mark is replaced with a nice bell icone.

Right now Canada computers has it on for $349, Just switch to the 1.5gb service, they tired telling me my older modem would work(150mb/s) profile I had.....Yeah right , give m that XB8 modem instead. Anyways I have received the newer service well below from what I was paying for the 150u. coming in at $79/month

Upgrade to 388.2 went fine.

I have noticed that traffic analyzer isn't working on my AX86S. Trend Micro is activated, switch on QOS tab is also on but I'm not using QOS. I don't remember checking its functionality in any prior versions when using LAG.

I am using LAG and I think the problem is the router's firmware might consider this interface's name bond and actually it is named bond1. Using bond1 in vnstat gives me an accurate data usage monitor that matches up with what Comcast shows on my account. Home page on router shows that LAG is active and that I have a 2 Gbps connection.

No idea if this is something that Merlin can fix or this is just a blob inherited from ASUS .

I meant for you to disable compression and also add "comp-lzo no" (without the quotation marks) under Custom Configuration.
I am able to get a WAN IP by doing that. However, DNS leaks when not using "Exclusive" for Accept DNS Configuration". When "Exclusive" is used, nothing resolves.

I had compression disabled and working fine until 388.2.

It turns out that at least once VPN service provider has compression disabled for OpenVPN 2.5 but has it enabled for outgoing (upload) only for OpenVPN 2.6.

The problem isn't 388.2.

The only thing i'm using that its not initially in the config's are static dhcp entries and custom DNS configuration with DNS secure, dns over TLS and the trend protection.
I just tested again 388.2 and about 6 minutes after shuting down the device the arp entrie goes invalid, it goes like "?(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) at on br0" the mac adress just disapears...

Gonna try to set up crontab to run it every 5 minutes or so.... because i have problens with some sites with 388.1 due to the dns configuration.

upgraded RT-AX88u from 386.8 to 388.2, usb unmounted, with my custom processes shutdown. reboot after FW upgrade then factory reset, then
manually re-configured everything again via UI. In the middle of the UI changes DNS was not working properly, a quick reboot resolved that. My openvpn server changes partially didn't survive, port number, and protocol flipped back to default, I set it up again, then no issues with openvpn server. I have had compression set to lzo adpative for some time now (years) so I can't comment if that is an issue if set to none.

No issues for 21 hours after a final reboot after all my custom configurations were completed, just the usual homepod mini bad wifi behavior, I'm pretty sure that's an apple issue.
