Original external fixed IP-address no longer available when using VPN after changing to Merlin

Hi I have done a reset now to factory settings and manually reconfigured and upgraded to 386.5; no change. I have come to think about that it might be the lack of the VPN Fusion functionality...

Hi Your right; bad translation on my part - sorry, it should have said Static IP-address. No I am not using DDNS.

Original external fixed IP-address no longer available when using VPN after changing to Merlin

Hi I have a Asus GT-AX11000 router where I before used Asuswrt and used OpenVPN, then I could use the original fixed IP-address to access the router. 10 days ago I changed to Merlin (with the same setup), then the original fixed IP-address no longer responds when using OpenVPN. I use Synology...

Aimesh network setup with and without VPN

Thanks for your feedback! Can you please expand on why I can not use the same ethernet backhaul? Why does VPN need to be on the main router? So I can use Asus and Merlin firmware together in a network setup? Thanks I did not know that! Regardless I would like to buy a router that has support...

Aimesh network setup with and without VPN

Hi Need some advise regarding an Aimesh network setup with and without VPN. I currently have 2 GT-AX11000 connected in a Aimesh network with Merlin firmware and ethernet backhaul (Cat 6) and running VPN on the routers. The problems with the setup is that I no not have any network without VPN...

Mesh network setup with and without VPN

Hi! I have a setup of two Asus AX-GT11000 routers in a mesh network with ethernet backhaul. I run OpenVPN on this. Some sites like Disney + and HBO Max does not work with VPN. What I would like is the ability to choose between VPN or not VPN by changing which WiFi network I am connected to...

Which to buy GT-AX11000 vs RT-AX88?

I just found out that Merlin does not support Mesh and have no plans doing so... So what to do then? Are there other heavy duty routers out there which have support for Mesh, AX and VPN acceleration with a stabile and flexible firmware that I should consider?

Which to buy GT-AX11000 vs RT-AX88?

Hi I have currently a RT-AC87U and a RT-AC66U, where the latter is a accesspoint connected through wire to the main router. I use PIA VPN and want more throughput, both devices run Asus Merlin as firmware. I want to upgrade to a Mesh compatible setup to get more effective WiFi and I want to...

LAN setup with AP to get remote desktop to work?

The gateway from the ISP is wired to the WAN port of the Asus 87U. The AP (Asus 66U) is connected to the Asus 87U through one LAN port on each of the two both devices. So there is no direct connection from Asus 66U to the ISP's gateway. Was that clarifying?

LAN setup with AP to get remote desktop to work?

From the pc connected to the AP I can see the whole network behind the Asus 87U and I can connect to the computer that is wired to the Asus 87U. From the wired pc I do not see the pc connected to the AP. I tried to unplug the WAN cable from the Asus 87U that did not change anything in the LAN...

LAN setup with AP to get remote desktop to work?

Do not quite understand what you say because the 87U handles the DHCP-function for the AP as well. Therefore I do not understand why you refer to a remote subnet, is not the AP on the same subnet as the 87U? Even if I do not understand why they are on different subnets, how do I add a such...

LAN setup with AP to get remote desktop to work?

Sorry, I did not see your first line..."Sett both ASUS in AP mode, connect to your Gateway by cable." I do not want to do that since I have more functionality on the Asus router. The reason why I keep the other WiFi net is to get better coverage.

LAN setup with AP to get remote desktop to work?

Yes and that is not bothering me. What is bothering me is that I can't connect to a pc connected to the AP from remote desktop. How to solve that?

LAN setup with AP to get remote desktop to work?

Yes, the gateway also has WiFi, but they use different DCHP ranges. The gateway uses 192.168.10.xxx renge, while the Asus router uses 192.168.1.xxx range.
