2.4ghz issues after update to 3006.102.4

New Around Here
I updated my RT-AX86U Pro to 3006.102.4 firmware and now have several devices that are unable to connect to the network. There was no change to the network settings. All cases they have lower end networking configurations like a smart fridge, garmin watch, smart scale. It seems like they are not being assigned IP addresses on DCHP. I was able to get my ecobee back online by setting a static IP but would prefer a dynamic. I tried reboots to no avail and firmware downgrade only partially reconnected the dropped devices. At a bit of a loss on how to troubleshoot through the issues here.

Add. The 5ghz network had 0 issues and if a device has trouble on 2.4 switching to 5ghz fixes it. Problem devices lack 5ghz capability

To clarify, do you have an RT-AX86U Pro? The RT-AC86U series is a different router that doesn't support the 3006 firmware.

More than a few are having various WiFi issues with the latest firmware. Use the forum search feature to find those other recent discussions.

It may help if you post readable screenshots of your WiFi settings (redacting sensitive information) and the make/brand of WiFi devices that are having issues.

Try switching to WPA2 only and not WPA2/WPA3 mixed. That fixed my Wi-Fi issues with this version.

I've tried WPA2 only and WPA2/WPA3 with no effect. Also tried 20 and 20/40 channel bandwidth. I'm not sure what other settings are of value.

Devices that won't connect
LG Washer/Drier
LG Fridge
Garmin 945 - Could not get IP error
Withings Smart Scale

Mix issues
Ecobee3 - works on static IP but not dynamic
Samsung 10e - works on static IP but not dynamic
Lenovo tablet running android - works on 5 but not 2.4

Make sure to reboot router after switching to wpa2 only and then make sure each device "forgets" the wifi and you have to reenter the wifi password. I set wpa2 on both 2.4 and 5 just to be sure wpa3 is completely disabled on the router.

May help to set the 2.4 channel manually and not use auto.
Channels to use on 2.4 are 1, 6, and 11 as they are not overlapping and yours says 10.
10 is an overlapping channel.
I just set 2.4 to channel 6 with 20 bandwidth.

If you continue to have connection issues with Merlin go back to Asus firmware. Use Dual Band SmartConnect with WPA2-Personal. Set 2.4 GHz to 20 MHz Auto channel. 5 GHz to 80 MHz Auto channel no DFS. Set up a Guest WIFI on 2.4 GHz for problem IoT clients.

May help to set the 2.4 channel manually and not use auto.

May help big time. Many clients don’t like channel change and may not reconnect on Auto.
