I have a Asus RT-66U B1, replace my old linksys. And I do found there is one wield issue, which I have no idea, and probably someone can give me a hint.
66U is connected to a cable modem in bridge mode. I cannot reach some websites, all of them are in China, maybe due to GFW? but maybe not. (ping failed, traceroute timeout, browser connects failed)
However, if the modem is switch to router mode, or I connect my computer directly to the bridged modem, everything works perfectly, and I can reach those website, ping works, traceroute works, website can be opened.
I have upgraded firmware to latest version, does not work, latest asus-merlin, does not work, old version (late 2017), does not work.
I changed MTU size to 1400, does not work, (although I don't think it matters as the ping failed).
does anyone have this problem? or any suggestion?
btw, if anyone have a asus router behind a bridged modem, maybe you can try to "ping www.douban.com" to see whether it works or not.
