AC86U with XT8s AIMesh Nodes

Hi.

I currently have an XT8 router, an XT8 node and an AC86U node. Both nodes are using ethernet backhaul and the setup has been rock solid for a couple of months.

I like the look of several Merlin features and given the XT8's aren't supported devices, I'm thinking using my AC86U with Merlin as the router with the XT8's as nodes. Firmware improvements aside, what will I gain or (more importantly) lose if I do this?
