AdGuardHome AGH not working on new firmware 3006

Yes, I ran your manual command line install and that is what resulted.

I just ran it again to capture data with same result.

I never get the option to "Change Builds" anymore but I think it never actually installs the Beta anyway - just always says it is available ... or maybe i'm mis-reading that?

fixed! please reuse the command line command.

fixed! please reuse the command line command.
Indeed, re-ran the command line install argument with success this time, and went through the Option #1 re-install for good measure. All good, but I am still on a 3004 based firmware at the moment, hope to finally move to a 3006 firmware later this week.
Thanks for the rapid update.

I am glad for your success. I feel like I am still investigating and working some of this stuff out. Please keep me posted on how things go for you. Also, let me know if you run into anymore hiccups later down the road.

Yep, that looks to have done the trick, all looking normal now.
I think I'm seeing evidence (pauses, hesitancy, stalls) that the rate-limiting is still playing tricks, which could be the thing that needs sorting longer term.

Thanks as always for the quick response and all your hard work @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow !!

@Stephen Harrington , right now the check only runs a max of 12 times before giving up -- and that is only if we fail to parse the version out of the .json file. If your router is actually offline, these failures would result in zero ratelimiting. It would just eventually fail. some of the stall you may be experiencing was in part caused by complexity of the command I just simplified. when you have waited a little bit, you can use the installer command above and you can update to a version of the installer that has the newer simplified command. The biggest problem with the version checks has been the complexity of the command used with curl, because it is parsing an extensive .json file every single time the github API is invoked. The simplest thing would be to use Jq in the command, but then we run into the problem down the road if the jq binaries provided by entware break. So instead I now have a simplified awk command. Before I was using a curl command with many pipes that often caused the version check to fail.

I did one more minor change. It should still have the same functionality as the previous minor fix.

:D

Ok, I've done that further minor update and all still looking good here ... with respect to your explanations of the rate-limiting etc, the "update" seemed to proceed smoothly this time FWIW.

Thanks again!

Trying to run the manual command but it seems we already hit the limit, will retry later on.
Code:
strud@RT-BE88U:/tmp/home/root# curl -L -s -k -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jumpsmm7/Asuswrt-Merlin-AdGuardHome-Installer/master/installer && sh install
er
One or more critical variables could not be set in a timely manner.
It is possible we have hit the github api ratelimit, or your internet maybe down.
Please check your internet connection, or try again in an hour.
The installer script will now exit.
edit: updated and it's working fine, I just have this strange error within amtm

Yea i am not officially sure what creates the error messages for amtm. You could try running "uu" to force update all of amtm auxillary files (including the addon files) which are managed and for the most part maintained by thelonelycoder.

I can't update to the latest as I keep getting error messages, whether via amtm or via the command above:

Code:
One or more critical variables could not be set in a timely manner./nPlease check your internet connection, or try again later./nThe installer script will now exit./n

I have the same problem with cli install command:
"<User>@RT-AX88U_Pro-XXXX:/tmp/home/root# curl -L -s -k -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jumpsmm7/Asuswrt-Merlin-AdGuardHome-Installer/master/installer && sh installer
One or more critical variables could not be set in a timely manner.

So i neither cannot update ag from v1.7.7 (on 3006 firmware)
----
...I put the problem together in the meantime, it seems I read the thread carelessly, sorry. If I understand correctly, I have to wait patiently and try from time to time

@SomeWhereOverTheRainBow You can capture the return headers from Github API and see if the ratelimit was in effect. I also think your timeouts are too short for some parts of the world.
Code:
# curl -D /tmp/headers.out --retry 3 --connect-timeout 3 --retry-delay 1 --max-time 15 --retry-connrefused -sL https://api.github.com/repos/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome/releases | awk '/"tag_name":/ {t=$2} /"prerelease": false/ {gsub(/[",]/,"",t); print t; exit}'
v0.107.63
# grep ratelimit /tmp/headers.out
x-ratelimit-limit: 60
x-ratelimit-remaining: 58
x-ratelimit-reset: 1752085101
x-ratelimit-resource: core
x-ratelimit-used: 2

I also have to wait to finally be able to upgrade, at the moment I got the same error message as other, either through AMTM or using command line.
Thanks everyone to allow people to understand what is going on.

I was able to update to latest version (1.8.1) using the command line provided.
Ironically, after all update process went well, when installer loop back on himself to display the menu, I received again the previous message about rate limit.
Anyway, thanks for the hard work.

Witch command line did you use? I have the same error here.

What happens if you run these commands?

curl --stderr /tmp/curlerrors.txt -D /tmp/headers.out --retry 3 --connect-timeout 3 --retry-delay 1 --max-time 15 --retry-connrefused -L https://api.github.com/repos/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome/releases | awk '/"tag_name":/ {t=$2} /"prerelease": false/ {gsub(/[",]/,"",t); print t; exit}'

cat /tmp/curlerrors.txt

I get this info in return
