I'm trying to set up my email in AMTM (i > em) ... I set it with an app password as I have 2FA enabled on my outlook account.

Code:
1. Edit From address: xxxx@outlook.com
  2. Edit To name: xxxx xxxx
  3. Edit To address: xxxx@outlook.com
  4. Edit Router name: RT-AX88U
  5. Edit User name: admin
  6. Edit Password: select Edit to view
  7. Edit SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
  8. Edit Server port: 587
  9. Edit Protocol: smtp
10. Edit SSL flag: Set to --insecure if curl problems occur
11. Send testmail to confirm settings

When I select 11, testmail, I receive the following message:

Code:
curl: (67) Login denied

 sending testmail failed

Note the curl: error above and check your settings

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Change option 5 'user name' to your from(login) address eg. xxxx@outlook.com

Also you can change 9 to smtps

Thanks for that, I got it to work with Gmail and using your suggestions.

  2. Edit To name: Some Person
  3. Edit To address: user@outlook.com
  4. Edit Router name: RT-AX88U
  5. Edit User name: user@gmail.com
  6. Edit Password: select Edit to view (application-specific password used)
  7. Edit SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
  8. Edit Server port: 465
  9. Edit Protocol: smtps
 10. Edit SSL flag: Set to --insecure if curl problems occur

With my gmail account I use 2FA with the Authy App (which is time based).
I am assuming this won't work when setting up email settings in amtm, is this correct?

No, you need to set up an app password for the router to use if 2FA is enabled.

please help to fix this error. i'm not using any 2FA or other 2nd authentication system for email.

1. Edit From address: ‎xyzxxxx@yahoo.com
2. Edit To name: my name
3. Edit To address: abcxxxx@yahoo.com
4. Edit Router name: Asus-ax11000
5. Edit User name: xyzxxxxx@yahoo.com
6. Edit Password: xyzxxxx email password
7. Edit SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
8. Edit Server port: 465
9. Edit Protocol: smtps
10. Edit SSL flag: --insecure

curl: (67) Login denied

sending testmail failed

Note the curl: error above and check your settings

If Yahoo still supports "use less secure apps", you will need to turn that on in your yahoo account settings. Otherwise, you will need to setup an app password to sign in.

tried gmail as well same error. could not find the option in either one of them "use less secure apps".

App password is the more secure way to go -- it's simple, too.

Gmail no longer supports less secure access in favour of app passwords. Would not surprise me that yahoo has done the same.

So basically that means this feature is not functional.
The feature is working as intended. You just need to satisfy the security requirements of your mail provider for logging into their service.

@Sunny786 ,double check your smtp port as well. You may need to use 587 as your port.

Set up a free email account with someone such as GMX. I have an account with them that I use only for my router.
