EDIT- Maybe with newer firmware you can set WiFi 7 mode, but it also works with 128-bit encryption, whereas in the past WiFi 7 mode everything that didn't 256-bit encrypt would just simply drop....

What's the point of it in @JamiryoFC intended configuration with primary SSID/WPA2-Personal is another question. It must be in reverse - primary with WPA3 only and isolated guest with WPA2 only for older devices and IoTs. Then the common inconvenience with connectivity between clients on different networks comes in play and this mesh system offers no options to solve. I don't know why folks buy hardware first and then do network planning. This process also must be in reverse - plan the network first and then buy hardware matching the requirements.

A while back with older GT-BE98 Pro firmware, Main MLO enforced all bands Smart Connected and MLO'd together, whereas GNP allowed you to use 2, (excluding the 2.4 GHz as the OP notes)...

Good point about planning then buying... Sometimes the WiFi hardware comes before the devices though...

So it basically did pointless fancy Smart Connect over existing Smart Connect because this is what MLO in reality does with current generation hardware. I still think consumer users get lost in too many settings exposed and swim in an ocean in false advertising.

That was a long while back, and since I have but one WiFi 7 smartphone, I don't really have capability to check. (It connects to one band on MLO per my understanding)... So MLO has been off for me.

Strangely, that link/reference you posted says MLO by default is ON, it was not on the BE19000Ai firmware, (received it already updated to the latest on 2025/24/12).

The reason I told @JamiryoFC to stop "optimizing" because there is nothing to optimize. MLO enabled on BT10 makes it only worse. It's was one of the tested devices.

Have u ever looked into WiFi 8 feautres? What is your opinions on that? Im curious if it will be like wifi 6e and 7 or a real forward step like wifi 6

Yes. Looks like better version of Wi-Fi 7 on paper. My realistic expectations - false advertising will most likely continue in full force; ever increasing requirements and conditions will leave larger and larger gaps between theoretical and real life performance; early adopters again will be used as paying beta testers; client devices will remain up to 2-stream at minimum new technology support just enough to be marketed as Wi-Fi 8. Business as usual, there is no reason to believe something will change dramatically.

More and more people like you will start realizing what real step forward means. With Wi-Fi 4 we had about 200-250Mbps throughput; with Wi-Fi 5 it was bumped to about 550-600Mbps; with Wi-Fi 6 bumped again up to about 800-850Mbps. This was real life experience with common on the market 2-stream clients. We didn't have to specify what exactly technologies the client supports in order to predict quite accurately the performance. We just needed the Wi-Fi generation number. With Wi-Fi 7 you really don't know. Does it have 6GHz support at all, does it support 320MHz wide channel, does it have MLO and what version... you have to test and see what it can do. And this will happen only after you purchase the device. It may go faster than Wi-Fi 6, it may go slower than Wi-Fi 5. Look at this Wi-Fi 7 adapter - BE6500-class with... USB 2.0 interface. It's $70 on Amazon US. How fast USB 2.0 can go? This one here is $14, AC600-class, equally fast.

Do you believe wifi7 routers like my bt10 have any real-life experience advantage for devices like iphone 17 or ps5 pro? Im really very new to networking but im getting curious about it more and more everyday.

Long answer:
Phones and tablets have nothing much to do with >Gigabit connection speeds and user experience advantage is between minimum to zero. When you download or update apps it may happen few seconds faster and that's about it. Gaming PCs and consoles must be wired for best performance. They may use extra speed for downloading and updating games, but for gameplay they need low latency. Nothing is better than Ethernet. You may not get any extra download speed because big companies for large updates use load balancing for server load management. With the list of your devices - you have mostly invested in speed test numbers.

That article itself about the failure of WiFi 7 is disappointing. They tested the Archer BE900 (non-WiFi 7 Certified), but avoided one of the first certified BE800. They avoided the Deco BE85 (Certified), and the BE95 (non-Certified). Sounds pretty cut and paste to prove a point...

They obviously can't test everything on the market. The mix of devices tested is good representation of the reality. From ASUS line of products we see the flagship GT-BE98 Pro, the recommended for tri-band RT-BE96U, the low cost for tri-band RT-BE92U and one ZenWiFi in BE-class. They all show similar level of supported features - the minimum. Everything in between is expected to be no different.

Yeah, but Archer BE550, Deco BE65 Pro, and Deco BE63 are Wi-Fi 7 certified.

They selected a good mixture of Qualcomm (IPQ5322 and IPQ9574) and Broadcom (BCM6765, BCM6766, BCM4916) chipsets in those routers. Mediatek's MT7988 (Filogic 860/880) is obviously missing, but that's because very few routers are using it (ZenWiFi BT6/BT8 and Archer BE805).
