ASUS RT-AC68U Router WAN disconnection.

Novice

New Around Here
Hello,

I'm new to this forum and to ASUS router. I recently bought a new ASUS RT-AC68U router for my home but I'm facing frequent WAN disconnection issues which I'm unable to understand.

My ISP uses PPPOE. I'm not very technical but from syslog I got to know that the WAN is getting disconnected every now and then. I'm on the latest firmware which is 3.0.0.4.384_32799. My network is pretty simple as I have not customised any settings expect Wireless and PPPOE. Everything else is in its default.

Tried resetting, firmware restore, manual setting after reset but no luck so far.

Below is the syslog, if anyone can understand it and tell me what's wrong. Sorry if it is not everything that you may want, I will be happy to provide and do as per your suggestions. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

seems it lost connection to modem or modem to ISP.
Is you modem in router mode or bridge mode?
If first connect your PC to modem directly and watch if it will loose connection too, maybe your ISP makes some problems or line.

Hi, thank you for your response. I also feel that the issue is with the ISP.
It is in router mode with bare minimal configuration, ie PPPOE username & password and Wifi Enabled. All other settings are in default value.

I can see more than 60-70 disconnections in the last 24 hours, so it is getting into my nerves now. For checking things I connected the internet cable directly to my PC and created a PPPOE connection. I capture packets when the connection was getting terminated. As seen in the attached snapshot, the ISP switch is sending LCP termination request to my Dell PC. Now I don't know why it is sending LCP termination request after random intervals.
I forwarded my findings to the ISP and yet to get a reply from them.
