I wonder what's with these recent "Japan-only" releases. That's something new...

Specially strange because this build says to fix security issues.
How can these be country specific?
Or is it more some special Japan only ISP issue?

My only guess is that before they can release in other regions, the firmware must go through a suite of validation/testing, possibly related to wireless. They might be rushing out the Japanese release because validation requirements aren't as strict there.

They did the same thing when they released the DPI-enabled firmware for the RT-AC68U. It originally was "Japan-only".

Running it here, no signs of any problems so far. I'll take the risk if it is patching a security vulnerability.
