Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.10 is now available

The default HTTPS port is 8443, not 443.
Pardon my ignorance, but who is that meant for? Been using 8443 for quite a few years now 😅

So, if the HA integration is active, I get errors from the website. First something about truncated headers and next a connection refused one, and the app will not connect anymore. In the logs we can see loops of processes getting repeated (crash loop?)

If I disable the integration, everything keeps chugging along as expected and the app also connects fine.

To the people who are trying for the first time to access their router over HTTPS, and it won't connect.

Do you, by any chance, run Home Assistant and a Asus Router Integration? As soon as I disable the integration, the Web page and app become responsive again. Switch it back in, mayhem ensues.
@The PyroPath Thanks for the clues about the HA Asus Router Integration, confirming this was also the case for me.
Disabling it stopped all the web interface "weirdness".
I DID make a 388.9_2 backup of settings and JFFS but I was unable to rollback because of the dysfunctional web interface, so a full reset was looming for me as well.
Looks like I'll be sticking with 388.10_0 for now but living without the HA Asus Integration pending further investigations.

RT AX-86U

Unable to upgrade from 3004.388.9_2 to 3004.388.10. After the firmware update process completed, it still stays in 3004.388.9_2 instead of 3004.388.10.

I have tried downloaded the 3004.388.10 file from 2 different sources - Sourceforge and OneDrive:

Have tried in incognito mode, also shutdown the Aimesh node, and disable JFFS custom scripts. All the same.

I only have YazDHCP 1.0.10 installed as add-on.

RT-AX86U

Same issue with Home Assistent Asus Router Integration (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/asuswrt/). - understanding that this integration is not supported by Merlin, but a lot of my automations are depending on it. I was not able to access GUI after updating.

After turning off the HA integration i was able to connect to the GUI using HTTPS, with HTTP i got a (I think standard Asus screen) with the message that HTTPS was safer. Even after confirming to connect through HTTP is did not work. Tried to enable/disable HTTP and HTTPS via SSH (nvram set https_enable=1, nvram set http_enable=1 etc.), but this did not make a difference (ChatGPT gave it as suggestion).

This brings me to the very first time that I needed to do a roll-back, 3004.388.9_2 is working again with HA integration on.

Mine was the first download for the RT-AX68U. Been running 12 hours without problem. Thank you for the new visual displays in System Info. It straightaway led me seeing that Skynet was in trouble. I’ve had this on previous upgrades (despite safely ejecting the external SSD prior to upgrade). Solved by uninstalling Skynet (sh /jffs/scripts/firewall uninstall) and reinstalling.

Dirty upgrade from 3004_388.9_2 with no issues so far.

I’ve got the same problem with the Asus router app, but i don’t think i have ever run HA router integration? I can’t find any option to disable it in the router GUI, or is it somewhere else?

No, I don't use Home Assistant or router integration, but where can I turn this setting off?

My situation is this: when I open the Asus app, it logs into the router, but after a while I get the error message: "connection failed" please sign in again.

Then it looks like the app has logged in, but after a short while, the error message appears again. In the settings, logins are also allowed via http/https.

with the firmware: GT-AX11000_3004_388.9_2 there was no such bug

Maybe the “phone App” was designed for Asus stock firmware and not a third party developer’s firmware.

Certainly worked fine before this latest firmware.

But since it worked with all older Merlin firmwares, your statement doesn't make sense. Don't say that it can't be with this new firmware, but I don't think it's the case.

Certainly worked fine before this latest firmware.

I have no issues being hardwired over Ethernet from my desktop PC to the router.
ASUS just hardened security. Maybe you have been lucky so far.

If you don't run Home Assistant, than the integration isn't causing your issues (because the integration runs inside Home Assistant, not on the router.) But, as the integration also logs in on the router, as does the app, maybe there is a problem with the login process?

I for one had never seen the https asus login screen and instructions to install a certificate before installing this version.

For the record, I don't run HA.

Just upgraded and tested. Everything works fine.

I have no issues logging into the router GUI either on my iPad via wifi or on my desktop PC which is hardwired. We are talking about the Asus router app, which isn’t available on desktop PC as far as I know?

Tarred and feathered myself while updating to this on a laptop and being dragged through the streets of London as passer-by's shouted Shame.

Despite this it seems to be working as expected.

Nothing better than a Sunday morning firmware update. Life is Good.

I don't ever recall that RMerlin guaranteed phone App support / compatibility with his firmware.

As the phone App belongs to ASUS, perhaps it's them to whom the issue should be addressed.

100% agree that Merlin doesn’t guarantee it works with the app. All I am saying is the app worked with 3004.388.9_2 but not with 3004.388.10. I’m obviously drawing a different conclusion to you, thats all.
