Totally agree, only problem pretty much no features work in the app nowAsus router mobile app is not officially supported under Asus-Merlin. Some features may work in the app, others will not.

The fewer routes into the router the better and especially through an app. Remote access through VPN Server is such a better idea, if remote access really is that necessary. And for local access, 192.168……, through a browser is ideal. I’d call the failure of app access a blessing. What do you reckon? But, But, But, But, ... when will the ASUS phone App get updated?![]()
The changes are too inconvenient for me. Login via https is fine, but being forced to log into the router on my home network without giving me a choice—no thanks. And then there's the malfunction with the Asus mobile app! So I downgraded the main router to the old firmware version 388.9.2! Now my problem is solved—and maybe for a longer period of time, too, since I want to buy the Strix GSBE18000.Totally agree, only problem pretty much no features work in the app now![]()

I can't update my Ax88u from version 388.9_2. Whenever I try to update the router, it's the same version above. I've already made several attempts, without WAN connected, without the node , only lan, without any connected equipment, I've already given hard reset, I tried Chrome, edge and nothing. Do you know if there is another way?
Already! I turned off the router, held the wps button until the light flashed, then I turned it back on, then it asked to start the new connection, but it doesn't have the option to update directly, so I reconfigure it, I try to update and it won't work. It seems that there is something blocking because my node is updated and it was also in version 388.9_2. Do I have to disable something? Scripts installed: cakeQos, amtm, merlimAU.When you say hard reset, have you tried a power cycle first? (pull barrel end out while leaving power switch on, wait a minute for unit to drain and then plug back in) Flash as soon as you can, no usb devices attached.
EDIT:You may need the WAN connected for NTP and have the LAN plugged into a Yellow port.
Cake might be issue, also try the update via merlinAU. See my edit above?Already! Yes, I just tried once again with the WAN connected, I tried to go back to FW Stock ASUS, but it doesn't continue, it gets stuck in version 388.9_2Cake might be issue, also try the update via merlinAU. See my edit above?
Actually unplug for 5Min, not power off?Yes, I just tried once again with the WAN connected, I tried to go back to FW Stock ASUS, but it doesn't continue, it gets stuck in version 388.9_2
I tried, but it says that a wireless device in recovery mode was found. What intrigues me the most is that the first time I can't update my router was in this version 388.9_2. All other previous versions were always normal without the need to do anything.Use the ASUS Firmware Restoration Tool version 2.1.0.3:
You should be able to Flash RMerlin, without having to go to stock first. You just need to be 100% on correct firmware, RT-AX88U.

The node is in the latest version of Merlin (388.10). So do I need to go back to Stock firmware and try to do it again? Are the nodes unplugged?
EDIT: Keep nodes on stock firmware, and they will need to be flashed and Reset after the main unit is flashed correctly. Do them independently.
Can someone please tell me what the new password requirements are, and if they are enforced immediately or only when the pw is next changed? I will wait to update if they are enforced immediately -- too many devices and users teach the new pw.New password rules were slightly loosened for Asuswrt-Merlin, repeating characters are still allowed.
The node cannot be connected while trying to flash with the Recovery Tool. The node is in the latest version of Merlin (388.10). So do I need to go back to Stock firmware and try to do it again?
Okay, I'll try one more time without the node connected. The node cannot be connected while trying to flash with the Recovery Tool.
Leave the node alone for now, but powered off.
